Seeing the name Rockwell I assume it is not the old reliable brand of yesteryear (60’s and 70’s) but I decided to give it a try. I have many years of experience using Rockwell 1/2″ metal case routers for 8 hour stretches routering plastic items with carbide bits using the side and tip with special routing fixtures. This was the only brand that would not heat up so hot that you burned your hands. I set the Bosch 4.5 inch carbide bit half way into the chuck so I could get a depth of 3 inches into a wooden bowl end grain. This exceeded the design limit as the bit was sticking out of router about 1″ with the plunger fully extended. With 3/4″ increments and max rpm got to the required depth without any motor loading, vibration, switch sticking. or excessive heating of the case. The plunger guides had some stickyness which was annoying. Even if this router is not the original Rockwell it reminded me of it being vibration free. Overall I am pretty happy with this router.
